Dear Readers!
Ever since I was a wee teenager I have been drawn to the dark and the macabre. While I have never quite found the courage to fully embrace a darker aesthetic, I have long admired the goth subculture including the fashion, the music and the literature. In fact, one of my major inspirations for creating a blog was the absolutely wonderful Ms. Jillian Venters, the lady behind “Gothic Charm School”.
While with the passage of time and motherhood I have found that I have less and less time to dedicate to fashion and music, especially since elaborate attire does not seem well suited to early motherhood, I do occasionally find a quiet moment to indulge in a bit of reading. I especially enjoy reading dark atmospheric fiction coupled with a cup of coffee on a rainy day. Here are some of my recommendations for those who might enjoy them.
“Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Bronte
“Rebecca” by Daphne du Maurier
“My Cousin Rachel” by Daphne du Maurier
“The Shining” by Stephen King
“The Historian” by Elizabeth Kostova
“Interview with a Vampire” by Anne Rice
“The Secret History” by Donna Tartt
“If We Were Villains” by M.L. Rio
“The Lake of Dead Languages” by Carol Goodman
“The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls” by Emilie Autumn
I hope you enjoy this list!
Happy Reading!
Your’s Truly
