“Madame Chic”- A Manual for Organising Your Life the Fun Way

My Dearest Readers!

Most of us have gone through a phase of devouring self-help books. And why not? These books are light and easy to read and leave one feeling they can accomplish anything. Though one quickly discovers that accomplishing any level of “self-help” requires one to be proactive about improving ones self. Self help literally requires that you help yourself. While there are many many books out there that claim to help you organise your life I find myself drawn more to books that revolve around romanticising yourself to some level. One of my favourites is Meik Wiking’s The Little Book of Hygge. However, Wiking’s book focuses solely on slowing down and finding romance and contentment in everyday life. Another favourite, is Jennifer L. Scott’s “Madame Chic” series. I believe that these books create a wonderful balance between organising your life and slowing down and romanticising it at the same time.

I discovered Jennifer L. Scott’s books years ago when I was younger and unmarried. At the time I had regarded them as a fun read that I occasionally picked up for self-care tips. However, over the years I have found myself returning to these books again and again, both for tips on personal style and for inspiration on how to manage my household and create a more deliberate and mindful way of life. To be honest I have not yet succeeded, but the journey continues and these books remain my go to every time I need inspiration or motivation to get through the daily grind of housekeeping.

For those interested in reading these books, the series consists of three books, that is, “Lessons from Madame Chic“, “Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic” and “At Home with Madame Chic“. In these books Ms. Scott shares life lessons she learnt from her host family while an exchange student in Paris. In an incredibly friendly and approachable manner she share anecdotes from her times and in France and tips and lessons which everything from being presentable and doing your makeup to recipes for tea and even a cleaning routine which she shares in “At Home with Madame Chic”.

Overall these books are a must-read for anyone struggling with adult-life or who needs inspiration to find a little magic and romance in their daily lives! Do give these books a read. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Happy Reading!

Love!
